In mezzo alla campagna che
circonda Todi si trova la tenuta di Poggio d'Asproli. Bruno Pagliari, uno scultore con una
lunga storia familiare nella conduzione di alberghi, trasferì la sua famiglia da Napoli a
questo agriturismo del 19° secolo diversi anni fa e si è adoperato per creare un
elegante e confortevole ambiente in cui gli ospiti si sentissero come a casa propria.
Ciascuna delle sei stanze è unica nello stile e nell'arredamento. Ricchi tessuti coprono
le testate dei letti creando un effetto a baldacchino e i graziosi grandi bagni hanno
lavabi in travertino. Dietro c'è una grande suite matrimoniale con entrata indipendente.
La casa contiene antiche e graziose opere d'arte (alcune sono di Lilli, sorella di Bruno)
che si intonano bene con i muri in pietra, gli antichi mattoni e le travi dei soffitti. La
colazione e la cena al lume di candela sono servite sia in terrazza che nell'elegante
soggiorno. In un angolo ci sono bianchi divani che circondano un enorme camino. Una
piscina fra gli alberi costituisce un fresco posto per rilassarsi. La figlia, Claudia si
interessa di vitto e alloggio.
Come arrivare: da Todi seguire la segnaletica per Orvieto e girare a sinistra all'altezza
di Izzalini. Prima del paese prendere la svolta per Asproli quindi seguire le indicazioni
dell'agriturismo.

In the midst of the bucolic countryside
surrounding Todi sits the refined bed and breakfast of Poggio d'Asproli. Bruno Pagliari, a
sculptor with a long family history in the hotel business, transferred his family from
Naples to this 19th-century stone farmhouse several years ago and has succeeded in his aim
of creating elegant but comfortable surroundings to make guest feel at home. Each of the
six romantic guestrooms is unique in style and decor. Rich fabrics draped at bedheads give
a canopy effect with matching bedspreads and nice big bathrooms have a travertine marble
sinks. To the back is a large two-bedroom suite with a separate entrance. The home is
filled to the brim with antiques and lovely artwork (some by Bruno's sister, Lilli) wich
blend in well with the stone walls, worn brick floors, and beamed ceilings. Breakfast and
candlelit dinners are served either on the outside terrace or in the elegant dining room.
At one end is a cozy sitting area with white sofas around an enormous fireplace. A
swimming pool among the trees is a cool spot for relaxing. Daughter, Claudia, is slowly
taking over the general management of the bed and breakfast.
Directions: from Todi, follow signs for Orvieto and take a left at the sign for Izzalini.
Before town, take the turning for Asproli and follow signs to the bed and breakfast.
